Secretary Announces Workshops and Webinars for Historic Preservation Grants Applicants

Secretary of State Kurt S. Browning announces that a series of workshops will be offered to organizations interested in applying for historic preservation grants from the Department of State, Division of Historical Resources, Bureau of Historic Preservation. Two workshops will be held in Tallahassee during October, and webinar presentations based on the workshops will be given during November and December.

Workshop I: Applying for a Historic Preservation Grant will be held November 4, and Workshop II: Grants Management will be held November 5. Both workshops will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Room 307 of the R.A. Gray Building in Tallahassee. A condensed version of the Applying for a Historic Preservation Grant workshop will be presented as webinars for those who are applying for grant assistance during the current Small Matching solicitation period October 1, 2009 – December 18, 2009. The webinars will be offered November 6, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and December 3, from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. A “Question and Answer” session for potential grant applicants will be included during the webinars.

The Bureau of Historic Preservation Grants-in-Aid Program awards grants annually for the restoration of historic structures, archaeological excavations, recording of the historic and archaeological sites, state historical markers and historic preservation education projects. Applications for the 2010-2011 Small Matching grant period will be accepted between October 19, 2009, and December 18, 2009. A grants panel, appointed by the Secretary of State, will review the applications March 22 – 23, 2010, in Tallahassee.
